L'hôtel du Voyageur - Gatineau, Outaouais
Our History
Hôtel du Voyageur was founded in 1989 by Gilles and Ginette who left Val D’or in Abitibi to establish a new hotel in the Outaouais called Auberge du Voyageur. The construction of the 26 room hotel with a restaurant was the beginning of their hotel business.
Three years later, 14 rooms where added on. 1994 marked the opening of the patio bar. In 1999 came the Bistro L’Entracte and a second conference room along with the outdoor pool.
In 2000 their children Dany and Josée took over the reins and decided to establish to a new corporate image starting with the name Hôtel du Voyageur and the addition of a complete restaurant, a second terrace and two more conference rooms.
In September 2007, the hotel got a “make over”. We started by refinishing the exterior and in October 2007, we expanded the reception area and car port to be able to welcome more visitors. A comfortable lounge with a fire place and big screen television plus two free of charge internet stations were made available to all our guests. At the same time, all the hallways were also redone. Many of our rooms also have also undergone many improvements, allowing us to be awarded a 4-star hotel rating in May 2008.
In the spring of 2009, a renovation of the restaurant and bar was undertaken. The Resto Bistro RUMEUR is a spot where the food and atmosphere are worth discovering. There are the ’ouï dire du chef’’, le plat tentation, l’infidèle …… rumours have it that these modern and lively surroundings are where it all happens.
Along the same lines, the young proprietors’ plan for 2010 is to add some new superior quality rooms as well as additional services to make your stay even more agreeable.
A story worth following!!!
